The Berwick Health and Wellness Fund is the largest charitable fund of the Foundation. Created through the sale of the Berwick Hospital in 1999, with a value of approximately $30 million, the fund continues to make investments in Berwick, and the original Berwick Hospital service area, to promote individual and community health and well-being.
The Alice Remington Fund provides support for health and wellness purposes within the Foundation's service area, as approved by the Foundation Board.
Berwick Arts gathers the community together to spread hope through art in our region. The Berwick Arts Fund supports projects and activities of the organization including art projects, installations, murals, sculptures, art education, shows/events, and more. Through this fund, the group invites all community members to participate in building the art culture in the Berwick area.
The Berwick Community Response Fund is a non-endowed unrestricted fund to support unexpected needs or initiatives in the Berwick Health and Wellness Fund service area.
The Catherine E. Gensel Fund is a field of interest fund supporting health and wellness grants benefiting residents of the original Berwick Hospital service area.
The Catherine Mentrikoski Fund provides support for health and wellness purposes within the Foundation's service area, as approved by the Foundation Board. Catherine worked diligently with the Auxiliary, and her spirit and hard work demonstrate the Auxiliary's great tradition of volunteerism in the Berwick community.
The Conway and Gertrude Dickson Fund is a field of interest fund supporting health and wellness grants benefiting residents of the original Berwick Hospital service area.
The Dale and Ferne Soberick Krothe Fund provides support for health and wellness purposes within the Berwick Health & Wellness Fund service area.
The Golf Team Memorial Award provides charitable support for the Berwick Area School District golf team.
The Hart Family Fund provides support for charitable purposes to organizations in the Berwick Health and Wellness Fund service area.
The Jacoby Business Department Award provides charitable support for the Berwick Area School District business department.
The Joy E. McGinnis Donor Advised Fund benefits general charitable purposes in the area of Berwick, Pennsylvania and surrounding communities.
Karen Ferrigno's spirit and hard work demonstrate the Auxiliary of the Berwick Health & Wellness Fund's great tradition of volunteerism in the Berwick community. The Karen Ferrigno Fund provides support for health and wellness purposes within the Foundation's service area as approved by the Foundation Board.
Initially established to honor the life and memory of Donald C. Walp, the Kishbach and Walp Fund also honors the Kishbach and Walp family legacies and their desire to make an impact in the Berwick area. This fund will provide grants for charitable purposes in the Berwick area and surrounding communities. Donor and family interests include supporting youth in the areas of sports, science, history, and music.
Lisa's Kids was created in memory of Lisa Canouse, a dedicated wife and mother who impacted the lives of many children in the Berwick Area School District through her passion and big herat. Following Lisa's heart to give to and care for the children of the Berwick area, the Fund was established to brighten the lives of children with special needs. Through grants to the BASD, the Fund will support life skills students K-12 who demonstrate financial need for necessities that help them thrive as individuals. In this way, the memory of Lisa Canouse and her unending love for her students will live on in the Berwick community.
The Marilyn L. Muehlhof Donor Advised Fund provides support for health and wellness purposes within the Berwick Health and Wellness service area as approved by the Foundation Board.
The Myers-Seely Fund is a field of interest fund supporting health and wellness grants benefiting residents of the original Berwick Hospital service area.
Nancy Eves was a loving wife and aunt, valued and appreciated volunteer of the community and avid supporter of the Foundation. Established as a lasting tribute through perpetual support of her philanthropic interests, the Nancy C. Eves Memorial Fund provides support for Beyond Violence, Inc. in Berwick, Pennsylvania.
Originally established as a charitable gift annuity, this fund continues to carry out Ray and Edna McBride's legacy by supporting general health and wellness programs in the greater Berwick area.
Bob and Carole Foster, both retired educators of the Berwick Area School District, lifetime members of the Berwick Health & Wellness Auxiliary, and active community volunteers, were concerned with supporting the current and future needs of their community. They created the Robert and Carole Foster Fund to provide unrestricted grants supporting the greatest needs in 23 municipalities throughout Columbia and Luzerne Counties.
The Roger and Carol Fish Fund provides support for health and wellness charitable purposes within the Foundation's service area.
Denny credits his parents and grandparents with teaching him the many important lessons he learned throughout his childhood. As a way to honor the impact they had on his life, Denny established the Souder/Peters Fund to create a lasting legacy in the community where he was raised. The Fund provides grants for charitable purposes in the Columbia County area. Annually, grants are given to local nonprofits, in the name of the Souder/Peters family, to serve those in need.
The Theron T. Klinetob Fund is a field of interest fund supporting health and wellness grants benefiting residents of the original Berwick Hospital service area.
The Volunteers in Philanthropy are a committee of individuals committed to providing support for various health and wellness purposes in the Berwick Health and Wellness Fund service area. Their Gift Shop Fund—established out of profits from the gift shop at the Berwick Hospital before it was sold and the Foundation was created in 1998—distributes grants to local nonprofit organizations.
Scholarship Funds
The 12th Man Football Scholarship provides awards for the benefit of a graduating Berwick High School senior who participated in football and is not receiving a full or partial scholarship.
The Bart Rado Senior Memorial Award provides scholarships for the benefit of a graduating Berwick High School senior(s) who participated in football and is not receiving a full or partial athletic or academic scholarship. Special consideration is given to quality players/students.
The Berwick Area School District Trust Scholarship Fund provides awards to the top academic senior graduating from Berwick High School.

The Class of 1950 Fund provides scholarship(s) for the benefit of graduating Berwick High School senior(s) who have shown improvement in attendance, grades behavior, and discipline during their high school career.
On March 5, 2014, Michael C. Scala, Jr. passed away from a very rare, aggressive, and fatal disease called Hemophagocytosis. In his memory, the Scala Family has created the Coach Michael C. Scala Scholarship Award. The award will be presented annually to a deserving Berwick High School senior who has demonstrated leadership and athletic skills as well as a genuine interest in a health/medical field. With this award, the Scala Family is hoping to create more awareness of this deadly disease.
The Dale A. and Ferne S. Krothe - Veterans Scholarship Fund was created to provide an annual scholarship to a graduating senior from Berwick Area High School who is attending a post-secondary school. Special consideration is given to a student who is a child of a deceased veteran with no living parents, a deceased veteran with one living parent, a full disable veteran as certified by Veterans Administration (VA), or a veteran with a lesser degree of disability as certified by VA. In addition, consideration is also given to a child of any veteran or a child related to a veteran.

The David L. Force Business Education Fund provides scholarship(s) for the benefit of a graduating Berwick High School senior(s) who participated in the business education curriculum with the highest GPA. Student can be entering a 2-4 year post-secondary school.
While looking for a way to honor Dr. Pyles and his work as a general surgeon in the greater Berwick area, Helen F. Pyles (Fort Wayne, Indiana) realized that starting a fund at the Foundation was the perfect way to recognize her nephew's service in the community while benefitting future professionals. The Dr. Mark C. Pyles Scholarship Fund will provide an annual scholarship to a graduating senior from Berwick Area High School pursuing a certification, associate, or undergraduate degree in a health-related or medical field.
The Dr. Ralph J. and RJ Norce Strive Scholarship Fund provides awards for the benefit of graduating Berwick High School senior(s) with a GPA of 85 or above who plans to attend post-secondary education. Special consideration is given to students with hardship (divorce, home life, handicap, health, etc.) who "sees the light" their senior year.

The E. Saracino Football Fund provides scholarship(s) for the benefit of graduating Berwick High School senior(s) who participated in football.
The Frank Souchak Award provides scholarship(s) for the benefit of graduating Berwick High School senior(s) who have not received scholarships from other entities; participated to their highest ability in the areas of academics, athletics, vocations and/or music; and demonstrated high achievement and highly involved with school and community.
The Fred A. Takacs Scholarship Fund awards to high school graduates who have resided in the Berwick Area School District and are pursuing higher education at Penn State Hazleton. Traditional and non-traditional student applicants will be considered.
The Individual Achievement Award provides scholarship(s) for the benefit of Life Skills or Special Education students graduating from Berwick High School.
This scholarship fund was created by Terry Riegel, a Berwick High School alum who wanted to give back to the community and support future students. Awards will be given to Berwick graduating seniros, with preference to students active in school clubs, organizations, and their community, and who have demonstrated leadership and school pride.

The Kevin and Ivette Tanribilir Scholarship Fund supports graduating senior(s) from Benton, Berwick, Central Columbia or Northwest pursuing an education in the legal field to become a legal professional or pursuing an education as a health care professional.
The Marie Rudy Music Fund provides scholarship(s) for the benefit of Berwick High School students (grades 9-12) who excels in music and has financial need. The award should be used for the purchase of an instrument, music lessons, or music education. If the student is graduating, the award should assist with post-secondary educational costs for a degree in music or music education.
The Russell H. Zimmerman Scholarship Fund awards a one-year scholarship to a deserving Berwick High School graduating senior who is attending Bloomsburg University in a field of his/her choice.
The Ruth Peck Matzko, RN and Michael J. Matzko, MD Scholarship Fund awards scholarship(s) for the benefit of graduating Berwick High School senior(s) who is pursuing a health-related occupation at a 2- or 4-year post-secondary school. Consideration is given to students with financial need.

The Susquehanna Arts and Crafts Fund awards scholarship(s) for the benefit of graduating Berwick High School senior(s) who is a deserving art student continuing their education in the arts field.
The Tuzzi Health / Financial Need Fund awards scholarship(s) for the benefit of graduating Berwick High School senior(s) who is pursuing a health-related field at a 2- or 4-year post-secondary school. Consideration is given to students with financial need.

The Walter and Florence Vorbleski Scholarship Fund provides awards for graduating high school seniors and/or non-traditional students taking at least 12 credits per year. Recipients must reside in the Berwick Health and Wellness service area and major in one of the following areas: pre-med, nursing, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, or surgical technician.
