Hartman Family Scholarship

25 Stories for 25 Years

Bill and Ginny were the first in their families to go to a 4-year college, and both embraced 30+ year careers in education at the Warrior Run School District. The couple also had two farms and were often found farming in the summertime and participating in 4-H and other agricultural activities with their family. As Bill and Ginny’s 50th wedding anniversary approached, their family began talking about a meaningful way to honor their legacy and passions. After connecting with the Community Giving Foundation, the William S. and Virginia L. Hartman Family Scholarship Fund was established to benefit Warrior Run students pursuing a 4-year degree in agriculture or education at Penn State.

Over its history, the fund has continued to grow through the thoughtful charitable giving of friends and family. Since its creation in 2008, scholarships in Bill and Ginny’s name have been awarded to 18 students for a total of $42,140. The Hartman family legacy will continue to shine bright for local students long into the future.

“Our dad has continued to invest in the scholarship fund as he sees the benefits it has had for families. It’s been interesting looking through the applications and seeing where students end up going and what they are interested in. We see it as being part of something bigger.” (Dave Hartman, who serves on the scholarship selection committee)
