Creating Unique Funds With Diverse Impact

25 Stories for 25 Years

Community Giving Foundation works with many individuals, families, and businesses to create donor advised funds. These giving vehicles are reflections of the passions and interests unique to each donor, recommending grants each year to support nonprofit organizations of their choice. The Foundation manages over 55 donor advised funds—each with diverse purposes and interest areas, but all creating visible community impact across the region.

Jesse and Maxine Woodring Donor Advised Fund

Volunteerism and community service were a vital part of the Woodring household, and values Jesse and Maxine instilled in their children through actions. Their desire to mpart a little bit of kindness into their community led them to the Foundation. They established the Jesse and Maxine Woodring Donor Advised Fund to support organizations and initiatives close to their hearts. To this day, their daughter, April, has continued to carry on her parents' spirit of philanthropic giving through fund grantmaking.

"The fund my parents created is the affirmation that their qualities of servant leadership would continue long after they are gone. It is truly my great honor that they entrusted me with the task to make sure their plans to support Sunbury and the surroudning communities would continue in the most meaningful of ways. There's nothing more humbling than knowing that small gestures and individual commitments can make the greatest impact." (April W. Trego, Fund Advisor)

Jeffrey Erdly Fund

Jeff Erdly is a businessman with roots across the Central Susquehanna region. When he discovered the Foundation's footprint overlapped many of the communities that have impacted him over his life, he created the Jeffrey Erdly Fund to meet his charitable goals and personal commitment to the people in his community. Jeff awarded several grants from his donor advised fund in 2024, including one to the Bloomsburg Area YMCA for a new initiative supporting whole-body health and wellness for local veterans.

"One of the most important aspects of our mission at the yMCA is to be there for our communities. We know being with other veterans through this 12-week Veterans Wellness Program will help provide strength and comfort to veterans and their families. The additional funds from this grant will help us serve more veterans as we launch this initiative to build community and connections. We are grateful for our veterans and thankful for continued support from Foundation donors." (Wayne Stump, CEO, Bloomsburg Area YMCA)
