I look forward to collaborating with other dedicated leaders to support meaningful projects and programs that benefit the Danville area.”

Amber Hughes

Community Giving Foundation: Berwick Board
Amber Hughes is a student at Commonwealth University – Bloomsburg, studying communications, leadership, and public advocacy. Her heart will always be tied to Columbia County and serving those that have shaped her into the person she is today. Hughes’ proudest accomplishment is founding the Benton Youth Action Board, established during her junior year of high school. Through this initiative, she embraced leadership opportunities to promote community engagement and mentorship among her peers. Hughes’ passions include youth empowerment and community aid, and she looks forward to expanding her knowledge in these areas as she continues to serve her community as a young leader.

“I am incredibly excited to join the Foundation as a board member because it allows me to pursue what I am truly passionate about – making a difference through giving. My interest in community giving initially sparked during the Foundation’s Youth in Philanthropy program. At just 19 years old, philanthropy has become a cornerstone of my life, bringing me a sense of purpose and profound fulfillment in giving back and supporting meaningful causes. I am confident that partnering with the Foundation will provide the perfect platform to further these passions, allowing me to contribute to impactful initiatives while embracing a lifestyle centered on service and community.”

Chad Lauer

Community Giving Foundation Regional Board
Chad Lauer is the President of the Lauer Media Company, a digital marketing agency, co-owner of The Gilroy Group, a medicare and group health brokerage, and host of The Lauer Power Podcast. Returning home to Elysburg in 2023 with his high school sweetheart and four children after 15 years away, Lauer brought a renewed passion for supporting and developing the coal region, where his roots run deep. A graduate of Southern Columbia High School and Susquehanna University, where he played varsity basketball, he is committed to growing career opportunities for local citizens through his business endeavors. As a leader of Keystone Select Prospect, he strives to develop competitive local youth basketball programming to enhance recruitment opportunities for local athletes. Lauer also harnesses his journey living and thriving with a cancer syndrome to promote adversity as motivation, as well as fuel his own zeal for life and improving his local community as a member of the Shamokin Rotary and podcaster promoting local success stories.

“I have always been committed to our community but feel that I can have a larger impact by partnering with the Foundation as a board member. Our community has helped me when I needed it tremendously and I wake up every day to pay it forward. Joining the Foundation board is a natural next step in my efforts to have a major impact in our area and I can’t wait to get started.”
