Women’s Giving Circle Awards 2023 Grants

The Women’s Giving Circle of the Community Giving Foundation held its annual meeting on July 25th at the Links at Hemlock Creek. During the event, four finalists from the Circle’s competitive grant round presented their grant requests live. Circle members in attendance took an active role in the grantmaking process by voting for their top choice. A total of $21,000 was awarded to the following grant recipients at the event:

  • $10,000 grant recipient: DIG Furniture Bank—Providing a Good Night’s Sleep for Women & Girls
  • $10,000 grant recipient: Union County Giving Closet—Children’s Clothing Program
  • $500 grant recipient: Columbia County Traveling Library—Literary Ladies: Girls Who Read are Girls Who Lead
  • $500 grant recipient: Girls on the Run Mid State PA—Promoting Holistic Health Outcomes for Girls

Women’s Giving Circle Steering Committee members also shared updates on membership and engagement opportunities. Representatives from Transitions of PA and Shape of Justice, grant finalists from 2022, shared how Circle grants have impacted the clients and communities they serve.

MEMBERSHIP
Membership for the Women’s Giving Circle follows a calendar year—any donation made in 2023 will secure membership (and grant voting power) for 2024. STEERING COMMITTEE
The Women’s Giving Circle Steering Committee is currently accepting applications for members interested in serving on the Steering Committee next year. Members follow 3-year terms and meet regularly throughout the year to discuss outreach, grantmaking, community service, development, event planning, and membership. Applications are due by September 1st. Download the application here.

The current Steering Committee includes Linda Brown (chair), Brianna Apfelbaum Kula (vice-chair), Patti Leighow (secretary), Athena Aardweg, Tiffany Bienkowski, Linda Neyhart, Pam Stetler, Amanda Stutzman, Deb Templeton, Joanne Troutman, Ellen Withrow, and Elaine Woodland.

LUCKY LAST ONE
The Women’s Giving Circle is excited to host its fourth Lucky Last One lottery board fundraiser on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at the Pine Barn Inn in Danville. Guests will enjoy a casual evening of fun and a chance to win $3,000 on the lottery board. Tickets will go on sale next week—contact a Steering Committee member or the Foundation Office to secure your spot!
