Sunbury Highlights Giving Stories

October 13, 2022

The Community Giving Foundation: Sunbury held its annual event on October 13th to share stories of community giving and impact. The luncheon, held at Front Street Station in Northumberland, was an inspiring time of togetherness to celebrate the partnerships and dedication that make this philanthropic spirit thrive in the Sunbury area.

During the event, Sunbury board vice-chair Cory Fasold spoke about the feeling of community in the Sunbury area and the impact of the Sunbury funds created by donors who continue to invest in its well-being and future. A list of Sunbury funds and 2022 grant recipients were included in this year’s event handout. Foundation outgoing President/CEO Holly Morrison recognized the dedicated individuals that make up the Sunbury board and shared about the Community Giving Foundation’s commitment to personalization and relationship-building. Michael Martz told his community giving story and the ways Sunbury funds benefit and educate local students through scholarships and the Youth in Philanthropy program. Reflecting on the impact of scholarship funds, Shikellamy guidance counselor Rob Donlan thanked donors who help motivate students to achieve their potential by making college financially-possible.

What’s your community giving story? What legacy do you want to leave in your community? Guests were prompted to consider these questions as everyone was given an opportunity to share their own giving story at their tables. Through special giving cards and the many resources compiled in the Foundation’s Giving Workbook, discovering your passions and philanthropic goals has never been easier. Learn more here.

The Foundation was inspired and uplifted by the stories and conversations that were shared. It is only through the unity of each donor, board member, nonprofit organization, and community partner that we can continue to make a difference—For Good. For Ever.
