Danville School District Funds Benefit Current and Future Students

March 28, 2022

The Community Giving Foundation: Danville is pleased to announce the creation of two agency funds to support the Ironmen Foundation of the Danville Area School District. The endowed and non-endowed funds will provide charitable support for programs and projects that enhance and benefit opportunities to meet the needs of Danville students.

Caring for students and their well-being has been at the forefront of school district conversations. “A collective of concerned parents and community members have taken an active interest in the mental wellness and resiliency of the children in our community,” explained Megan Oldfield, parent. While this group has worked to provide care baskets and other student service opportunities, they wanted to offer a way for others to contribute financially so the project could continue in the future. The Ironmen Foundation Non-Endowed Fund will help.

Like this wellness initiative, there are many projects at the school district that cannot be financially supported by the annual budget, but are valued ways to enhance the educational experience for current and future students. The priorities of the Ironmen Foundation will focus on these needs to support student services, facilities, and other district programs and initiatives.

Daria Vodzak, retired Danville teacher, explained, “My sincere hope is that donations made to the Ironmen Foundation funds will support students’ overall mental health and well-being so that they can achieve their dreams. We need to provide an optimal environment for them to feel safe and grow. When we support the children and district, we in turn support the community. Healthy fulfilled children equal a thriving community.”

Partnering with the Community Giving Foundation: Danville to administer these funds was a logical step. The Community Giving Foundation is well-established in supporting school districts’ charitable goals by handling the administration and back-office work of the funds, while offering benefits like online giving options.

“Community giving provides individuals the fulfilling opportunity to make a difference for the children of the Danville area. The Ironmen Foundation funds offer an avenue for community members, graduates, businesses, and others to contribute to the education and well-being of Danville children both now and in the future,” explained Dr. Ricki Boyle, Superintendent.
