Community Giving Foundation, in collaboration with Amazon and the Luzerne Foundation, proudly announces the launch of the Amazon Northeastern Pennsylvania Community Fund, a bold $300,000 aimed at empowering nonprofits serving Columbia and Luzerne Counties. The application process will open July 1, 2026, with a deadline of July 31, 2026.
“We’re grateful for Amazon’s investment in our community and for the opportunity to work alongside partners like the Luzerne Foundation to connect these resources with local organizations making a difference every day,” shared Kara G. Seesholtz, Community Giving Foundation President & CEO. “Community foundations are uniquely positioned to understand both the needs and opportunities within the communities we serve. By combining Amazon’s generosity with our local knowledge and nonprofit relationships, our foundations are able to direct support where it can create meaningful, lasting impact for the people and places that call this community home.”
This grant opportunity is designed to support initiatives that drive transformation, sustainability, and resiliency for residents of Columbia and Luzerne Counties. The fund will provide community grants ranging from $500 and $10,000 and larger impact grants ranging from $15,000 to $25,000. Priority will be given to programs and projects that align with one or more of Amazon’s key focus areas:
- STEM Education: Enhancing science, technology, engineering, and math learning.
- Sustainability & Environment: Supporting conservation, renewable energy, and environmental education.
- Health & Wellbeing: Promoting physical and mental health through access to care, wellness education, and health services.
- Culture & Heritage: Preserving and celebrating local history, cultural, and traditions through restoration and education efforts.

We look forward to seeing the creative solutions that will emerge from residents and organizations in Columbia and Luzerne Counties.”
Eligible organizations include registered 501(c)(3) nonprofits, schools and educational institutions, and community/governmental organizations. Individuals are not eligible to apply. All grants must benefit the residents and communities of Columbia and Luzerne Counties. The grant application will open through the Community Giving Foundation’s online grant system on July 1, 2026. The deadline to submit applications is July 31, 2026, 11:59pm. Following a comprehensive review and evaluation process by the Community Giving Foundation, Luzerne Foundation, and Amazon, grant recipients will be announced in Fall 2026.
