Central Susquehanna Opportunities, Inc. (CSO), in partnership with Community Giving Foundation and Susquehanna Kids, has launched Susquehanna Cares, a free online calendar designed to help residents find local programs, services, and community resources. The Susquehanna Cares Calendar, found at csocares.org, provides a centralized location for information about community resources, including food assistance, clothing resources, health and wellness services, community programs and other support opportunities available throughout the region.
The calendar was developed by Susquehanna Kids and is now hosted by CSO following collaboration through the Nonprofit Executive Team (NET), convened by the Community Giving Foundation, and through the help of Foundation grant support. The partnership brings together organizations with a shared goal of making it easier for residents to find and access available services.
“Susquehanna Cares reflects the power of collaboration in meeting the needs of children and families across our region,” said Megan Bair, CEO of CSO. “Through this partnership between Community Giving Foundation, Susquehanna Kids and CSO, we are creating new opportunities for our community to connect with local resources that can help individuals and families thrive.”
“As we built our activities calendar at Susquehanna Kids, we kept coming across information about food pantries, clothing closets, and other community resources, so we created a separate calendar to make sure those opportunities had a place to be shared. Through our work with NET and the Community Giving Foundation, we connected with CSO and quickly saw that Susquehanna Cares was closely aligned with their mission of connecting residents with resources,” explained Colleen Bowman, founder and CEO of Susquehanna Kids. “We’re excited that the calendar will remain free and accessible while giving more organizations an opportunity to share the services and support they provide to our communities.”
The Susquehanna Cares Calendar is free for residents to access and for organizations to submit eligible resources and events. CSO will serve as the primary home for the resource moving forward. Nonprofits are encouraged to include the link on their websites or resource lists to grow the calendar’s visibility.
