Sunbury Welcomes New Board

January 14, 2026

Community Giving Foundation: Sunbury is pleased to welcome three new board members in 2026.

Atreyu Gallo

Atreyu Gallo is the Director of Technology for the Shikellamy School District. Currently in his ninth year in education, he is excited every day to take on new challenges and is dedicated to serving his community in an efficient, unbiased, and effective manner.

“Fairly assessing the needs and passions of people is important, as not everyone has the same access to resources and information to speak up for needs or ideas they strongly believe in. Being able to serve as a board member of the Foundation, I feel that I will be able to offer new perspectives and local awareness to assist in serving the community to the fullest capacity.”

Kyle Mertz

Kyle Mertz is a graduate of Selinsgrove Area School District and Penn State University. He currently works as the used vehicle sales manager at Sunbury Motor Company and a front of house manager at Penn’s Tavern historical Waterfront Restaurant. When he’s not working, Mertz loves to cook, play, golf, read, go to the gym, and perform live music in the local area. He’s also a huge Penn State and Detroit Lions football fan.

“I’m excited to partner with the Foundation as a board member because it gets me out of my comfort zone. This is something brand new to me and it not only encourages me to better but provides a positive impact on everyone in our area. I look forward to collaborating with other board members and learning more about local nonprofits and how they operate. I hope to provide new and fresh insights to the Foundation!”

Courtney M. Solomon, CPA

Courtney M. Solomon is a licensed certified public accountant and co-owner of Herring, Roll & Solomon, P.C., a full-service accounting firm with offices in Sunbury and Danville. She is a graduate of Bloomsburg University, where she earned her B.S. in Accounting. Solomon has 25 years of experience in auditing nonprofit organizations in the Susquehanna Valley, which has provided her with a unique perspective on the inner workings of a nonprofit and the needs of nonprofits in the community.

“I am excited to partner with the Foundation because it is a way to give back while helping make the community where I have lived my entire life a better place. Local giving is important because it creates a more connected community and improves the wellbeing of those who receive and offer support.”
