Foundation and United Way Host Community Meal After Berwick Storm Recovery

July 1, 2024

After devastating storms on June 26th, Berwick residents and volunteers came together to show their community pride through storm clean-up and recovery efforts. Community Giving Foundation: Berwick and the Berwick Area United Way want to say thanks and let those impacted by the June 26th storms know that we are all in this together.

The two organizations will be hosting a meal for local residents who were impacted by the storm and for first responders who continue to work hard to keep our community strong. This meal is provided through the Berwick Health and Wellness Fund of the Community Giving Foundation: Berwick at no charge and will be held at Maria Assunta Society (901 Monroe Street, Berwick) from 12-5pm on Sunday, July 7th. Four hundred meals will be prepared and will include pasta, homemade meatballs, rolls, and salad. Dine-in and take-out options will be available, limited to one meal per person.

With help from volunteers from the Berwick Football Team and Maria Assunta Society, United Way and Foundation staff look forward to greeting community members as we share this meal and time together.

“The storm destroyed many properties, but not our community’s spirit,” stated Kara G. Seesholtz, President & CEO of the Community Giving Foundation. “As a community we are and will always be resilient and united.”

Ayrin Shortlidge, Coordinator of the Berwick Area United Way, added that our community always comes together in times of need. “The United Way and the Foundation will continue to collaborate to support area nonprofits as they serve local residents. More information on storm recovery grantmaking will be shared soon,” said Shortlidge.
