The Community Giving Foundation: Bloomsburg is honored to remember Alex Charles Wagner, 23, who passed away suddenly at his home in August 2021. Alex was a graduate of Central Columbia High School in Bloomsburg, PA, where he loved serving as the equipment manager for the Blue Jay’s football team. In his memory, family and friends have established the Alex Wagner’s Football Fund to provide charitable grants to the Central Columbia School District to support the football team with equipment and supplies that benefit player safety, learning, and experience.
“Alex was one of the most devoted and dedicated members of the Central Columbia football family. I cannot imagine a more fitting gift to be named in Alex’s honor. He truly loved the game and the program,” explains Jason Hippenstiel, Central Columbia teacher and coach.
Alex was and always will be loved beyond measure. He loved his family more than anything and was always willing to help anyone with diligence. During his middle school and high school years, Alex volunteered for the Ronald McDonald House in Danville. He was a graduate of Stetson University with a bachelor’s degree in sports business. Alex loved the Pittsburgh Steelers, and some of his happiest moments were during his Make-a-Wish trip to Pittsburgh to attend a game. Alex was a member of Tomoka Christian Church in Ormand Beach, Florida, and lived out his faith every day. Though Alex’s life was not always easy, he was resilient and persevered until he was called home.
The Wagner Family writes, “Alex was our foundation, our true north. He was kind and generous with his time and always had a smile. His uncle recently told us that Alex was smiling in every picture he has of him. To see Alex smile or hear his laugh was everything! Alex loved football and he loved helping people—it’s so important to us that he is remembered in this way and thought of often. These memories, and the exceptional way he lived, brings joy and comfort to us during this heartbreaking time.”
