Needs Assessment Report 2018

Regional unrestricted giving is the core of CSCF’s mission; to enhance the quality of life in the Central Susquehanna Valley.

The Central Susquehanna Community Foundation has undertaken a 5½ countywide initiative to meet ever-changing community needs. Our Foundation's Regional Impact Fund is an unrestricted fund established to address a broad range of local needs - including future needs that often cannot be anticipated. As a community leader, it is our responsibility to evaluate all aspects of community well-being. The flexibility of unrestricted gifts lets us respond to the community's most pressing needs today and tomorrow.

To meet this goal, we hosted our first regional Impact Symposium on June 6, 2018, at Bucknell University. See the videos below. More than 120 representatives from nonprofit organizations serving Columbia, Lower-Luzerne, Montour, Northumberland, Union and Snyder Counties, participated. The Symposium brought together our regional nonprofit partners from 5 ½ counties to identify and evaluate unmet needs, network, learn and collaborate. Experienced professionals lead breakout sessions focusing on county and a variety of program areas.

The Symposium concluded with an exciting announcement about the Regional Impact Fund’s first competitive grantround. Under the oversight of the CSCF Board of Directors, with membership reflective of our region, 45 grant requests were reviewed based on the Needs Assessment Report containing information and data gathered at the Symposium. The Foundation presented 11 grant awards totalling $50,000 at an October breakfast.

The Board of Trustees of the Central Susquehanna Community Foundation is committed to increasing future grantmaking power by raising the Regional Impact Fund endowment to $500,000. Make a donation to the Regoinal Impact Fund today!
