Celebrating Community Giving and Grantee Impact

Grantee Impact

The Selinsgrove Area Community Foundation awards more than $54,000 annually in grants and scholarships to local charitable organizations and students. Our great success year after year is directly because of you, our donors, fundholders and grantees. Without your involvement, we could not affect the change we do. Below are a few examples of the impact the Selinsgrove Area Community Foundation is making:

TRANSITIONS OF PA

Promoting Care for Kids: Nurturing Healthy Sexual Development Workshops

“We are pleased to be able to offer preventive measures, such as Care for Kids workshops, to stop these hurtful acts from happening in the first place. Care for Kids provides comprehensive developmental training for parents, caregivers, and educators that corrects the awkwardness that often keeps adults from informing children about how to talk about their developing bodies without shame and reproach. Transitions has two certified and trained facilitators for Care for Kids workshops, and this is a program that we are excited and eager to promote in our Selinsgrove service area.”

- Eckie Friar, Education Specialist

BIRTHRIGHT OF SUNBURY

Family Assistance for Bathtubs and Infant Toiletries

“The opportunity to provide a safe, refreshing bath time for our area infants is threefold: The most obvious--a clean, happy baby; secondly--a positive bonding experience with Mom and Dad promoting well-being for the infant; and, finally, by meeting the child’s most basic need through this community grant, a healthy initiation toward a life of dignity, and improved quality of life.“

- Dee Romine

UNION SNYDER COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCY

Healthy Families Program

“Because of the funding provided by the Selinsgrove Area Community Foundation, 5 Selinsgrove area families/15 individuals enrolled in Union-Snyder CAA’s Family Education classes have been provided with low cost, healthy lunches. SACF supports CAA’s vision in offering folks opportunity to improve their life situation, including the value of learning about healthy eating and promoting a healthy, nourishing and safe home environment lifestyle.”

SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY CHORALE

Youth Chorale

YOUTH CHORALE ”Our sincere thanks to the SACF for a grant that helps provide rehearsal and concert facilities in Selinsgrove for our spring concert. We honor your ongoing support of children for whom music is a passion. For many of these youth, a lifetime of singing will be the heartwarming reward. Thank you.”

Girls on the Run of Greater Susquehanna Valley

Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. We teach life skills through dynamic interactive lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5k running event. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness.  Since 2014, grants from the Selinsgrove Area Community Foundation and the Sunbury Area Community Foundation have supported girls who reside in the Selinsgrove Area School District area to apply for teams located at the Selinsgrove Area Middle School and Selinsgrove Intermediate School.
